Ellen and Leda were having a lovely conversation about her new album and voicing a character in Disney's recent live action version of one of their older animated films, when a guy in a shark outfit burst out of the small table beside their chairs.

Leda shrieked something incredibly offensive (in Elvish fortunately) and sprang back so suddenly that her chair, and she both went tumbling.

Ellen's smile froze. That was by far the strongest reaction they'd ever gotten there, and she feared they'd gone too far.

"Oh God, are you okay?!" she asked.

On her back, legs up on the overturned chair, Leda threw up her arms dramatically.

"Behold the gracefulness of the Elves!"

The audience burst out laughing and Ellen Helped Leda up. Then they both helped the poor guy in the shark outfit up, because Leda's reaction had caused him to jump back and fall over as well.

"Leda's new cd, 'How Dare I' comes is out in stores and for download now, and it's coming on vinyl this weekend, 'Into the Jungle' opens Friday."

"Are you're okay?" Ellen could be seen asking as they went to commercial.

[I'm playing with alternate dimensions, and I'm having them start to bleed into each other, so open for anyone who wants to have seen this.]

Momoko hadn't been telling Sila lies, she totally had been planning a trip to visit Leda! It had just taken a while to get some time off!

But she was here now. The portal had been oddly direct this time so she was not surprised, then, that it dropped her in a part of Bordertown that she was not familiar with. Still, Bordertown wasn't that big, so she decided to just walk until she found someplace or someone that she recognized. Half an hour later she was worried that time had done something weird to this world again; she could recognize some buildings now but others were not where they should be.

She passed in front of a store selling music (that was supposed to be a kosher Elven deli with totally awesome pickled flowers) and glanced in at the window display, not really seeing the items as she pondered what to do. Then suddenly she looked sharply at the window and rushed up to paste her face against the glass and stare at one of the posters displayed. "EH?!? LEDA?!?!?!"

The poster looked a lot like the icon featured Leda sitting on the edge of a rooftop, her guitar on her lap. She looked with a pensive, brooding expression off into the distance. And behind her stood a figure that Momoko may remember from years ago in Fandom. Crystaviel, likewise armed with a guitar was looking down at Leda with a similar expression.

HOW DARE I? was written in large fancy type, with a subtitle beneath it Apologies From Beyond, a new album from Leda and Linden of Wyld Hunt, available now.

Though it sounded more like a growl. And not the kind of growl that was nice.

This had better be an alternate universe, Momoko thought as she stepped back and picked up her satchel from where it had fallen when she'd rushed to the window. She took a few deep breaths to get something f a smile back on her face and then went inside the store. "Excuse me... Is anyone here? I'd like to buy an album."

"Hey there. Welcome to Postcards from the Border. Are you looking for any album in particular or...?"

"Ah! Hello." Momoko nodded. "The one in the window. With the, uhm. The Elf on it? Playing guitar."

"Is that her, uhm. Is that a popular album?"

The clerk sighed and rolled his eyes. "Popular? Oh yes I'd say so. I mean, I guess it's good, if you like that sort of thing. They were great when they were with Wyld Hunt, but then they had to go off into the human world and get all, ugh, mainstream." His apparent distaste did not stop him from doing his job however. "What format did you want? We have vinyl," he said that like it was his favorite, "cd, though those don't tend to work too well here, and impression ball."

"CD and - " Momoko reached into her bag and pulled out the impression ball Leda had given her years ago. She carried it on visits simply because cds and other music devices didn't always work. "Can you add it to this one? It's a bit old and I don't want to erase what's already on it, but I would rather not carry multiple ones if I don't have to."

Then she asked: "the Wyld Hunt?"

"Yeah I can do...You've never heard of Wyld Hunt?" He sound disappointed, if not surprised. "How quickly memory fades." He retrieved the cd she'd asked for and set up the equipment to download the album onto her impression ball, then went to a display with a hand written sign that said;

There were some early LP's from human bands and very obscure Bordertown acts likely were one-hit wonders (and yes that was a picture of Wolfboy on one of the covers). The clerk pulled out one that featured the standard band photo with five elves arrayed on the front steps of a tenement building. Leda and Crystaviel were in front wearing matching trenchcoats, with three handsome elves behind them.

"They were a folk-punk band that got a little too big, who knows how long ago." he said. "I mean it was years but time, right?"

"Ah! That looks like Wolfbo... uhm. Someone else I know." Momoko reached for both albums with a confused look, flipping them over to find the release dates. Yes. She'd known Leda when both albums had been released and Leda had definitely not been in a band, In Bordertown or not. She wan't sure about Wolfboy. Though she thought she remembered him being the way she knew him for quite some time.

Definitely another universe.

"It can't be, but. Ah. Uhm. I'll take anything with these three in it." Momoko set the albums on the counter. "This... these two girls. What are their names? They look like they may be close."

The only Crystaviel she knew was the one that had been a threat to Leda, so pardon the twitch in Momoko's eye.

"Leda and Linden." the clerk said, with more wistfulness than was appropriate for a hipster, possibly. "They were the lead singers, and they also played guitar. Leda's a real Soho native, so I guess I'm a little more irritated with her. Linden was from up on the hill and already kind of a rich girl. I guess we all expected her to be in it for the money. But Leda...ah well, the lure of rock goddess...dom. Or something." He really did seem to be glad for someone to talk to. Someone who didn't seem to know all this already anyway.

Did you mean that she wanted the Woflboy one as well?

Oh she definitely does. ALL THE ALBUMS. She will tease him no end about it

"Linden, hmm? Definitely not the woman I know, then." In name, at least. If they met, she'd totally know for sure. "And Leda is from Soho... you mean here? Sure she was raised here but isn't she really fr-"

Whoops. Different world, Momoko. No spoilers that Leda is from the royal family in Faerie.

"Isn't she really friendly," she recovered with a bright and quick smile. "I'm glad that she made it, then. Does she still live here?"

It was generally considered bad form in Bordertown to inquire too closely as to someone's background. But gossip was totally okay.

"I mean, as much as anyone is." There actually weren't many Soho citizens that could truly claim native status. Almost everyone in this part of town were refugees from the World, Faerie, or other parts of B-Town. "But no, the band broke up after they left for the big wide world. Dunno what happened to the others, but last I heard the ladies wound up in California somewhere. Which is...somewhere in, I wanna say America, but human geography's not really my thing."

The teasing will be especially effective, because Wolfboy being in a band is totally canon. I don't recall what they called themselves but they were a popular novelty band for a month or so.
