Tir Na Nog, Faerie

Though they had been able to cleans Leda's wound of any corrupting energies, and save most of her muscle tissue, much of the skin and nerves had been destroyed when Evil Leda had tried to drag her into Azathoth.

The surface damage was now healed over leaving a nasty looking scar, but that was slowly fading as well. But the upshot was that her leg had been rendered nearly immobile. The scar tissue was so stiff, and the nerve damage extensive enough that just bending at the knee had been impossible.

Through painful exercise, she'd gradually increased the flexibility, and ointments from the healers had slowly increased the elasticity of the new skin, allaying her fears of tearing the thing open.

Now today it was time to put her to the real test. Walking.

"All right," the healer assigned to her recovery said, handing her a plain brown cane, "Ready to try it?"

Leda grimaced at the boring stick.

"You're gonna have to level up to the fancy ones Leda." Wiseguy told her.

Gritting her teeth, the reluctant monarch pushed out of the chair. If not for her old friend's aid, she would have toppled over, her leg screaming in protest.

"Put your weight on your good leg and the cane." the healer ordered.

Finally, she felt steady enough to hobble forward a few steps.

"Come on Leda!" Sai encouraged her, in the same tone of voice she'd used with her kids when they were learning to walk. "You can do it!"

Leda glowered at her, then looked down at her own belly. "Sweetie," she said to her unborn child, "First chance you get, I want you to throw up on your Aunt Sai's favorite shirt."

[Open for calls and the like. This post is dedicated to a good friend who almost lost a leg to flesh eating bacteria last summer. I'm not even kidding.]
