Grand Ballroom, Alfheim Palace, Faerie

There were more nobles and dignitaries gathered together here since the end of the war. Lord Dagos of the Merfolk, King Thane of the Dwarves, the Matriarch of the Dragons were in attendance along with their immediate families. All the nobles of the lands of Faerie, even some from Unseelie Lands were there as well.

And then there were those Leda was meeting for the first time. The Dryads, Pixies, Kitsune, Nunnehi and Menehune had all sent representatives. And countless others.

Though naturally no Diplomats from the Human realms could be present, the Elven ambassadors to their countries had sent greetings and gifts from them.

"Furachoque of Iguaque!" the herald announced another arrival. A woman in rather elaborate golden attire entered. Her people inhabited a tropical land rich in metallic ore. They traded regularly with the Dwarves, though they were best terms with the Nunnehi and had ancient ties with the Merfolk. Their capital had become known as El Dorado out in the world. She resembled the Elves save for one difference, her feet faced backwards.

[For those invited. The herald is moddable on hand to announce you as you wish.]

"Why thank you. Everyone worked very hard. I'm afraid we have so few of these events that people start champing at the bit. You have no idea how hard the planners found it to keep their Elven composure when I suggested it." Seriously she thought for a minute she was going to get group hugged by decorators. It had been at once cute, and slightly creepy.

"And how are matters in your realm?"

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"The easy solution is more events, clearly," he said. "I have faith in your staff to pull off any engagement, even on short notice." He grinned. "Decorations look lovely."

"Things are well," he said. "At least, from what I can tell from the letters I've received."

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Your people aren't the kind to leave bad news out of letters so as not to worry you are they?"

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. "Not really," he said. "They would indicate something, even if it's vague." He shrugged. "But that's talk for another time. Today is a day for lightness and laughter."

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes exactly." she smiled. "So shall I introduce you to all the single ladies who would love to make the acquaintance of a genuine hero of legend?"

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"All?" he asked with a smirk. "Perhaps one or two. How badly are the stories inflated?"

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Depends on who you ask. The song that Iranon wrote is pretty true to what...well not what really happened but what everyone thinks happened." What with Leda's being at Corwyn's castle being a secret and all. "Just really poetic. Other people have made up some more uh...interesting stories. I think many of the ones about you are...well you've become almost an archetype. I could swear they're the old Jack tales or Robin Hood legends, but with you instead."

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like a right epic," he said. "I'd like to hear the tales sometime."

He just grinned at the last part, picturing himself standing in place of the legends.

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-22 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know Iranon plans to sing it tomorrow. I think he was hoping you guys would come even more than I was." Which is saying quite a lot.

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-23 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Even more than you?" he asked in a teasing tone.

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"He reeeeeealy wants to embarrass, I mean, honor you by performing the epic for you."

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-23 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That was not a facepalm, that was an ancient Keshian gesture of endearment. "I suppose if her highness wills for it," he said, half smiling.

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well if you're gonna be all formal about it then technically it's Majesty." She snickered. "And I see no reason why I should be the only one to suffer, I mean enjoy the experience."

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-24 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Will there be ale?" Or mead? Beer? Cider? Vodka? Whiskey? Burbon? Tequila? Alcholpops? Something?

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-24 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
All of the above, with the possible exception of alcohol pops.

"Oh yes. There will be ale." None for Leda of course, but there would be red bull for her.

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-24 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Then I accept your invitation to hear the best of your bardic traditions. I may not remember them in the morning, I fear."

No, his fear? He would remember all of the songs and it would haunt him. Like an earworm.

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2013-12-27 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a catchy tune. Different words of course

"Oh don't worry, if you forget I'll send you a recording." There were magical ways of doing that. "Possibly I'll hide it in a mix tape of completely unrelated songs."

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2013-12-29 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, great. Next, she'll make sure that the bards around Krondor learn the tune and play them at all the taverns.

"I look forward to that, m'lady." The bow was a teeeeeny bit sarchastic. Just a tiny bit.
