The Causeway, Sunset
After her conversation with Billy yesterday, Leda had a hard time deciding what to do. Finally, she had determined that she did not have to choose. She had spent all night and most of today recording what she knew of Faerie and Bordertown so there would be something left behind if nothing else remained.
Now she stood at the end of the causeway, steeling herself.
[This will be Leda's final post till all this is over. If anyone wants to have a dramatic tearful farewell, this is the place to do it :D]

"I get why you're doing this." he said. "I'm not going to try to talk you out of it. Though I am tempted to knock you out and stash you someplace safe. That's how I wound up here."

But, in the end, she'd gone. There wasn't really a choice, was there? It wasn't about how much Karla could bear, it was about seeing a friend off to be brave and do her duty. Karla couldn't leave Leda to go off without even a goodbye.
Especially not when that same choice was brewing for her.
"Kiss kiss," she said, sounding tired. "You didn't think you'd get to leave without saying goodbye, did you?"

"I should smack you," she mumbled into Leda's hair. "For making it sound like I'd need a book to remember you or your people."

"What you don't like reading?" she teased. She couldn't resist. All this was way heavier than she was used to dealing with. "There's pictures too."
Reluctantly, she let go. "I know you'll remember us." she said seriously. "The book is for
holding up a listing couch...well you know."no subject
"You can thank me for that later, once this is fixed. Okay?"

And if she didn't get going, she was going to lose her nerve. "Goodbye Karla. No, not goodbye. See you later."

Her lower lip trembled as Leda said goodbye, but she refused to let the tears fall. She would show her friend off with a stiff chin, if she couldn't quite muster up a smile. Leda deserved that much. "See you soon," she corrected, voice thick. "I'm so very pr-proud of you. Of who you've become. Not just as a Queen. As a person."

"See you soon June!" she called out just before she disappeared into the mist. "You have big fun now!"

And then, when she was sure Leda had gone, only then did she give into tears.
