Faerie, Thursday Night

The only silver lining to all this, was that everyone remained blissfully unaware that anything was amiss. Certainly they knew, on an instinctual level to give The Void a wide berth, but no matter how much it spread, who it devoured, to them it had always been such.
Leda kept her emotions better hidden than ever before, deciding that if she could not save anyone, the least she could do was keep everyone calm as the end came. She had discovered soon after her return that all avenues of escape had been cut off. Portalocity did not answer, the border, and all lands beyond it were gone.
Now she was sequestered in the west wing of the palace, all that remained. Stormy Waves Upon a Rocky Shore, and Sila were the only others left besides her. While her bodyguard kept useless watch (there was no one to guard her against after all), she tucked Sila in for the night.
"Did you know my mother?" Sila asked sleepily.
Leda choked back a sob. Polaris had only vanished an hour earlier. "Yes sweetie, I did."
"What was she like?"
"She was beautiful, and strong. And she loved you very much." She blinked away tears, and looked at the empty bed.
And then there were two.
"My Queen," Stormy Waves said, (she'd never been able to get him to stop calling her that) "You put up a brave front, but I know something is troubling you deeply."
Leda scowled, stalked up to him and kissed him. "The world's ending dumbass. And I'm the only one who knows it. So just...shut the fuck up and hold me. I don't want to be alone when-"
The rest is silence.
