Faerie, Sunday Night

One second the Void was creeping up on her, eating away at the world around her, leaving her with only this former mortal enemy for company, and the next...everything was back.

She stared at Stormy Waves for a moment, who was looking very confused. Even more so when she let out a joyful yell, kissed him, and then whooped, grabbed her scrying mirror and ran off.

"What just happened?" he asked.

Leda meanwhile called all her friends. She panned the mirror around from her perch at the highest balcony in the palace.

"Look!! Looklooklooklook! It's back! It's all back and I'm alive and everyone here thinks I'm either nuts or have had waaaaaaaay too much chocolate! Now we must party!"

"It's back!" James laughed into his cell phone, standing on the lawn outside the school and dorms.

"James! JimJimmyJimJimJim! It's so good to hear your voice!"

"Leda! You're safe! You're safe, yes?" he asked, joy turning to worry. "Please tell me you're safe,"

"I am! And getting weird looks from everyone because I'm the only one who ever noticed anything was happening."

"I'm sure everything I've written back home will be used to question my sanity."

"While true, that is not the point. I may boast, but not unfairly."

"So no one on your world noticed anything either?"

"It seems not. They take me seriously, but not completely."

"I haven't gotten a chance to properly explain to my friends what happened. I mostly just whooped and bounced and then called you guys."

"Perfectly acceptable, Your Highness," he said, grinning like a fool. "I would do the same, had they the technology."

"We don't have technology here, but I've managed to use a magical equivalent and hooked it to the inter-dimensional whozimawhatsit. Which means I'm talking to you via handheld mirror."

"I-- That's something I will bring up to the court once I get back. Would prove most useful."

"I think it's a service similar to Portalocity. I basically pay the same as a cell phone bill, and it's very handy. It's how I managed to keep in touch with folks here while I was still in Fandom."

"Wonder if that works with the magic technology back home?" he mused.

"Do you guys have scrying mirrors? Or, do you have a cell phone that would still work? My problem with that here is that technology just doesn't work."

"I don't know. Magic is something I do not know much about. My experiences have been a bit limited."

Mostly involving prophecies, omens, countries at war, and melting the mortar of the castle.

Karla laughed into her phone, a half-laugh, half-cry born from the dizzying relief of having everything come back. "It's back?" she asked, sounding stupid. "Thank the Darkness."

"Yes, sorry do you not have video on your phone? I can send pictures. You did it! You saved us!"

"I do, but it doesn't matter," Karla said with a hiccup. "I've been telling people that I couldn't believe they were back even while clinging to them like crazy."

"I believe that." she said. "So, party? I know there's gonna be a big holiday party in Bordertown soon that I'm dragging my bard friend Iranon too. You'd all be welcome."

"I can't make any promises yet," Karla said. "I have to go home to Glacia and check on things and see if Sookie's back and doing her holiday get together--but still. I'm going to try like Hell. You let me know when and I'll do my best to be there."

"I absolutely will and if you can't make it I'll come to Fandom and we can do something festive."

"And I promised Momoko a picnic in my world complete with a visit to the unicorns," Karla said. "Probably not until after the holidays, but I'm going to demand you take a break from all that Queening and come join us."

"Oh good, a demand from a fellow Queen will be a lot easier to sell than 'hey I'm going on a picnic, bye!'" Leda giggled.

"Call it a diplomatic summit," Karla suggested impishly. "With the most powerful witch-Queen you've ever met. That should get them to stop grumbling."

"Damn girl, it's good to hear from you!" Jon said as soon as he picked up the phone. "At least we're all all alive!"

"Yes! It's wonderful! Nothing like a near death experience to get you to appreciate life. Not that I'm advocating more near-death experiences."

"But they've been done to death!" Teehee. Leda really had had enough of those.

"Well, this time they've been done to Nothing."

"Sweeeeet. So hey how'd you guys pull it off?"

"Well, there was a wild west town being bullied by ugly aliens, weird mirrors and a book, a giant flying dog and an empress who told us we all had to remember. Which we did."

That was probably a ramble only someone who had been to Fandom would understand.
