Room 515, Early Sunday Morning

Castle Pup, by all outward appearances still a run down old office building rose behind them. But on the inside it was much more than that. Leda, Mooner and Wiseguy had cleaned it up, began making it a home. Then slowly they'd recruited others. And Leda found herself the defacto leader of a new street gang. The Strange Pupae.
Now she lounged on the front steps with Wiseguy, sitting behind her, giving her a hair cut. Sai, the third of their band (ever since things between her and Mooner had become strained) danced on the sidewalk to the music playing on the seedybox.
Someone she didn't recognize approached, and knew the song. Only he knew it as a poem by William Blake. Leda had never heard of him, but she didn't disbelieve it.
“Man that's too transcendent.” the kid said, impressed.
Too transcendent? That was so cute! She loved it. “Too transcendent.” she repeated, smiling at Wiseguy. It was a phrase she'd later adopt for her own months down the line. Hee, transcendent.
The poetry buff flipped her off.
“He's one of Mooner's right?” Leda asked Wiseguy. No one else would have brought home someone so touchy.
“Found him the other day.” Wiseguy nodded. “You met him last night, but you weren't entirely present.”
Ohhhhh yeah. Oops. Looked like everyone had their quirks. “Oh. I shouldn't have mocked you.” Hey it counted as an apology okay? “The music is um, transcendent.” She cocked her head curiously at this new addition to their brood. He seemed rough around the edges, but with Mooner's help...
“I'm Leda. And you?”
“I'm not.” he said brusquely. Leda hoped he'd one day learn that asshole did not equal tough. She'd apologized for crying out loud.
“Says his name's Ron.” Wiseguy answered for him. “That still the case?”
“Yeah.” Ron answered. Interesting that he'd flip flop from 'Grr, Argh' to 'Good afternoon ladies' for Wiseguy. She did have a way about her. “Just Ron.”
A curious change happened then. As if it had always been this way, Wiseguy was now Karla. Sai had become Annja. And Just Ron? Well it was hard to say. Did he have an eyepatch? Or was he someone else?
And when had Leda's twin shown up? She had blood smeared all over her neck, and her dead eyes stared accusingly at her.
Leda woke with a start, in a cold sweat, and shaking. She'd heard of an American author claiming that it was easy to quit smoking. He'd done it a hundred times. She'd quit drinking Peca several times. This time she thought it might take because all she had to do now, was not ask for a resupply from Crystaviel. She'd drunk the last after returning from that other world.
But Crystaviel was a considerate friend. She'd sent some along with the latest 'care package'. Now Leda stared at the bottle. Just a sip? Just to take the edge off. The cramps hadn't started yet but she knew they would.
All too soon she knew as well, that her mind would start to...what? Hallucinate? Slip away? Remember? A little Peca kept her sane. More made her drunk and happy. And if she drank herself to sleep, she slept deep, and dreamless.
The bottle stood on her nightstand. Just in case.
